Position Summary

Responsibilities will include: investigating the epidemiology, population genetics, and mitigation measures of Botrytis cinerea. Duties will also include coordinating with graduate students as needed and overseeing undergraduate students who may assist with these projects.  Compiling and analyzing data and summarizing results for grant reports, manuscripts, extension articles and powerpoint presentations is expected.  The appointment will be initially for one year with the possibility of two additional years based on satisfactory performance and continuation of funding.

 

Exceptional candidates from all areas of Plant Pathology, Agronomy, or agriculture-related field will be considered.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Plant Pathology, Agronomy, or agriculture-related field

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Plant Pathology, Agronomy, or agriculture-related field.  The Ph.D. must be completed at the time of employment. 

Applicants must possess a commercial pesticide license.

Desired Qualifications

Familiarity with use of a Burkard volumetric spore sampler, WatchDog temperature/relative humidity sensor, leaf wetness sensor, diseased plant sampling technique.  Must be able to perform experiments independently in the lab, conduct field work under sometimes challenging conditions, and write scientific publications and other documents.
