Summer 2024 Intern/Assistant Agronomist – Potatoes, Wheat, and Corn

Job Type: Full-time hours, Paid Summer Internship, Free Housing Available. 

Some weekend work is required.  There is potential for qualifying interns to be offered a year-round Assistant Agronomist position on the farm.

Job Duties: Scouting potato, wheat and corn fields for weeds, insects and diseases. Majority of time is spent in the potato crop scouting for Late Blight, Phytophthora infestans, and quantifying Colorado Potato Beetle, Leptinotarsa decemlineata, pressure.  This is a unique opportunity to learn about pesticide chemistries and their efficacy on our potato, wheat and corn crops.  Interns are expected to learn the pests and pesticides and contribute to the weekly spray application recommendations.  Extensive on-the-job training is provided.   

Applicants must have:

A reliable vehicle and valid Driver’s License.  The athletic ability to walk over potato hills for 8 or more hours each day.

Preferred Skills:

Knowledge or college coursework in agronomy, crop scouting, plant health, plant biology, soil science, botany, entomology, fungal pathogens or weed science.
