Trap Checker Job Description – Sparta, MI

 

General Purpose and Scope of Position:

 

Wilbur-Ellis is seeking a trapper for the Sparta region to be responsible for pest trap placement and monitoring/recording pest activity of various crops and pests. The trapper works closely with the support teams and consultants. This is a seasonal position starting May 1-August 18th.

 

Key Skills and Abilities Include:

 

  1. Knowledge and/or experience with agricultural operations (preferred)
  2. Requires excellent interpersonal skills between both customers and fellow employees
  3. Ability to repetitively bend, kneel and walk long distances while working in a non-climate-controlled environment and outside in inclement weather
  4. Excellent math skills and the ability to maintain accurate counts
  5. Dependability/reliability. Occasionally may need to work Saturdays
  6. Good interpersonal skills
  7. Willingness and desire to work overtime hours during busy seasons

Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include:

 

  1. Prepare traps for placement in the field
  2. Install traps in fields. Inspect and monitor on a weekly
  3. Maintain data counts of the number of pests trapped on Agverdict
  4. Use GPS technology to map fields
  5. Comply with company safety standards
  6. Opportunity choose and lead a project and present findings
  7. Collaborate with other support teams in Sparta and West Michigan areas
  8. Other duties as assigned
