TREE PHYSIOLOGY LAB
The MSU Tree Physiology Lab (Dr. Bert Cregg’s lab!) is looking for undergraduate research assistants to work during the 2019 field season April to September (part-time through fall and winter is available too!). Successful applicants will participate in a variety of research projects that focus on Christmas tree research, urban forestry, and landscape nursery tree/ornamental shrub research. This is a great summer employment opportunity for anyone with an interest in Michigan tree improvement and urban forestry. Applicants selected for these positions will perform a variety of duties in the laboratory and greenhouse on campus and at field sites on campus and throughout Michigan (90% of our time is spent outside!). Laboratory activities will include working with technicians to process samples and perform assays. Activities at field sites (we travel to Christmas tree farms around the state) may include plot setup, maintenance, and data collection. Learn physiology equipment! Equipment used: Li-cor gas exchange, chlorophyll fluorescence, SPAD meter, PMS water potential. Additional duties will include general lab maintenance and data entry. Previous experience is NOT required. Anyone enthusiastic about the outdoors is encouraged to apply.
