Undergraduate Student Employment Opportunity: Assistance Needed in Tree Fruit Physiology/Horticulture Research

The Einhorn Lab in the Department of Horticulture at Michigan State University is currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated student to assistant the research team with tree fruit studies. The student will have an opportunity to gain hands-on research experience in tree fruit physiology. The ideal candidate will be one who is able to work in a fast-paced outdoor and indoor environment, is conscientious, possesses good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills and has an interest in working with plants and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in sample collection, analysis, and data collection for our ongoing tree fruit research
  • Assist in laboratory, filed, and greenhouse work related to tree fruit growth, and development
  • Help maintain research equipment and supplies in the lab
  • Other duties as assigned by the research team

Qualifications:

Recently graduated or current undergraduate student pursuing a degree in horticulture, agriculture, plant science, or a related field.

  • Basic knowledge of plant biology (specifically fruit production or enthusiasm to learn!)
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Basic pipetting skills is desired but not required

This is a part-time position with flexible hours, requiring approximately 15-20 hours per week (possibly more depending on interests and needs). The position will begin as soon as possible and continue through the end of the semester, with the possibility of extending work throughout the summer. Hourly rate will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
