MobilizeGreen seeks a conservation minded Urban & Community Forestry Program Specialist Intern to serve 32 weeks with the Pacific Northwest Region of the US Forest Service. The Resource Assistant (RA) will primarily work with the Urban and Community Forestry program to support U.S. Forest Service program staff and partners including state forestry agencies, non-profit and community organizations, and local underserved communities assisted through various urban & community forestry programs.

 

The RA will be 100 percent virtual. Depending on location and interest, field opportunities will be available and require some physical outdoor exertion.

 

The Resource Assistants Program is designed for recent graduates and new professionals to launch their natural and cultural resources careers. The RA will receive hands-on learning experience, mentorship, and coaching to complete mission-critical work while developing leadership, critical thinking, and strategic communication skills. This is a developmental program.

Location:  Location is 100% remote.

 

Term:  32 weeks, starting June 11, 2022; Full Time/40 hours per week

 

Host Unit: Pacific Northwest Regional Office

 

Duty Station: Hybrid, Remote and In-Person work in Oregon or Washington.

Position Duties:

  • Potential work includes assisting staff and partners with developing grant proposals;
  • Grant management support such as project monitoring and reporting;
  • Researching and compiling information on program updates, events, and opportunities;
  • Preparing various communication products such as written summaries, fact sheets, supporting graphics, and program website and social media content.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or greater in Ecology, Education/Environmental Education, or Forest Resources/Forestry, within 0-5 years out of school.
  • Have strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Be self-sufficient and capable of working independently and in team environments.
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
