Hiring Organization: USDA Forest Service
Employment type: Full-Time
Job Location: Milwaukee, WI
Application Deadline: September 26, 2018

Are you looking for a team specializing in critical thinking that is proud, fun, and friendly? If so, we have the team for you!

We are seeking a person with effective writing skills, who can develop polished and professional products that support the Forest Service’s decision making process.  As a writer-editor, you will serve as the point of contact to coordinate, prepare, and finalize for signature project-specific letters in addition to other planning-related documents.  These letters are a critical instrument to inform the project’s decision maker when authorizing land management activities.  You will also provide writing assistance to other staff areas as opportunities arise.

Our office is located one (1) block from Lake Michigan in Milwaukee, WI with ample recreation opportunities on the lake and an extensive county park system, which includes 1,400 acres of beachfront access, most within walking distance of the office. You'll see surfers and kayakers on the lake all year and intensive beach volleyball each summer. Commuting is a breeze with bicycle trails leading straight to the office, a steady stream of busses taking people across the city, and an interstate highway exit a few blocks away. Education is also a top priority with 7 of the top 10 school districts in the state located in the metro area. Milwaukee is a relatively small city, but quite livable, and extremely vibrant.

Milwaukee is also a city that cherishes its roots; you'll see revitalized architecture throughout downtown, and a parade of summer festivals celebrate the diverse cultures that made the city what it is today. But Milwaukee is also a city that's growing and changing. From major construction projects, like a brand new NBA arena and streetcar system, to the revival of streets and neighborhoods around the city, there's a new energy in the air. We would really like you to join us!
