Koeze Company Story

Koeze Company is a fourth generation family business, started in 1910 by our president, Jeff Koeze’s great grandfather Sibbele Koeze. He came to Grand Rapids, Michigan from the northern farming community of Friesland, Netherlands sometime around 1890.

He brought his Old World love for food to his new country and always dreamed of owning his own food business in America. He began with butter, eggs and produce. He encouraged his sons to work in a creamery and eventually founded the Koeze Company. He began making peanut butter sometime in 1925. Although the Koeze Company has made everything from vinegar to salad dressings, peanut butter has always been the main stay of the family business.

Sibbele’s son, Albertus eventually took over and expanded the business which was eventually taken over by his son Scott. Scott’s son Jeff is the current owner and president.

We still make our peanut butter with vintage machinery, so much so that Sibbele would feel right at home here today.

Just peanuts and salt, made slow with old simple equipment, packed in glass jars that sport labels that are as retro as we are. With all of the renewed interest in classic, minimally processed foods, we think our efforts at preserving the traditional methods of classic food manufacturing, using sterling ingredients, is the key to our success.

In short, we make it slow, we make it on vintage machinery, and we cut no corners to deliver a truly heritage product with unbelievable rich peanut flavor. Cream-Nut Natural and Sweet Ella’s Organic are genuine, old-fashioned, minimally processed products.

Our Cream-Nut Peanut Butter Clusters are also made on vintage machinery. We start with a peanut butter cream center, set on a bed of fresh pecans. We then enrobe them in either milk or dark chocolate. Outstanding quality and taste, all-natural ingredients, no hydrogenated oils, in outstanding retro packing.

Koeze Company Products

Cream - Nut natural peanut butter, available in smooth and crunchy. Sweet Ella's 100% organic peanut butter, available in smooth and crunchy.

The company has completed all necessary tests on their products and use the 2016 nutritional values. Their products contain GS1 barcodes. The company currently has placement in several retail establishments across Michigan and works with several distributors.
