Riker's Dog Treats Story

Originally aspiring to be a reliable side income, Riker’s Dog Treats has grown into a full blown B2B and B2C business that is a beloved brand for many people and their fur-family across Michigan, much of the U.S and even Puerto Rico. The company was founded in 2014, is owned by Leslie Cowell, and ran with the help of her husband, Adam Cowell.

After realizing this idea was a legitimate business, we reached out to the MSU Product Center, which has helped hone our products as well as introduce us to a network of retail professionals and helped us gain new business along the way. Our very first retail partners came from their annual Making It In Michigan product trade show in 2014. From there, we developed a wholesale pricing structure and Adam began approaching independently owned pet, grocery, and Michigan-Made retailers to carry our products.

Fast forward to today and our products are available in over 40 retail locations across Michigan and Ohio. We have grown to be a five flavor, fourteen SKU product line that has a treat or supplement for any dog of any size. Flavors include: Apple Honey, Peanut Butter Banana, Pumpkin Molasses, Grain-Free Peanut Butter Banana, and Peanut Butter Hemp. Our products are all handmade and baked in small batches, made with very minimal ingredients, and never contain any fillers or preservatives. In addition, we have five products that are exclusive to our web store and seasonal, which feature our same recipes but cut into larger treats with seasonally themed shapes.

Through strategic partnerships, as well as product upgrades in 2021, Riker's Dog Treats is poised for continued growth in an ever-growing industry sector.

Riker’s Dog Treats is a five flavor, fourteen SKU product line that has a treat or supplement for any dog of any size: Flavors include Apple Honey, Peanut Butter Banana, Pumpkin Molasses, Grain-Free Peanut Butter Banana, and Peanut Butter Hemp. Our products are all handmade and baked in small batches, made with very minimal ingredients, and never contain any fillers or preservatives.

The company has completed all necessary tests on their products and use the 2016 nutritional values. Their products contain GS1 barcodes. The company currently has placement in a few retail establishments across Michigan and self distributes.
