National 4-H Conference is the pinnacle youth development experience in 4-H civic engagement. This conference helps develop the next generation of leaders alongside over 20 federal partners, utilizing the peer leadership model.

National 4-H Conference is the pinnacle youth development experience in 4-H Civic Engagement. This conference helps develop the next generation of leaders alongside over 20 federal partners, utilizing the peer leadership model.

This multi-day working conference provides:

  • Round table sessions
  • Youth perspective briefings to federal partners
  • Engagement with U.S. senators and representatives
  • Career fair
  • Community service opportunities
  • Exploration of Washington, DC
  • Delegation night out
  • Engagement with 250+ youth leaders from across the U.S.

Required qualifications:

  • Must be a current and active Michigan 4-H member. 
  • Must be at least 15 and no older than 19 as of January 1, 2024.
  • Must be willing to make the time and fully commit to participating in all components of the experience, including the three pre-conference meetings (Feb. 5, March 7, and April 2).
  • Demonstrated interest and willingness to interact positively with youth and adults from diverse backgrounds, beliefs and identities. 
  • Demonstrated ability to promote and maintain a positive representation of Michigan 4-H.
  • Must not have attended the National 4-H Conference as a delegate before.

The exact cost will be determined based on the number of delegates and airfare, but will be around $2,000.00.  Fees include registration, hotel, airfare and most meals. The Michigan delegation will depart from Detroit Metropolitan Airport to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Lodging will be at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington, Virginia.
