The 12th annual Michigan Family Farms Conference will be held this year in Marshall, MI on January 17, 2015 from 8 am to 5 pm.

The 12th annual Michigan Family Farms Conference will be held this year in Marshall, MI on January 17, 2015 from 8 am to 5 pm.

Through eight conference tracks, attendees can focus their learning on specific categories within this year’s conference theme, “Sustain our Future – Healthy Soils, Healthy Communities.”

Tracks include:

  • Is there a GAP in your paperwork?
  • Everything Comes from the Soil
  • Bees and Bugs
  • Your First 10 Years
  • The Dollars Do It
  • Your Customer Connections
  • Youth Track (18 and under)

The morning keynote features Jack Lee and Jim Marshall from the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. The will speak on “Vibrant Terra Firma: A Co-Creative Parable in 7 Acts.” They will talk about the soil surface and plants as being place of relationship, where terrestrial and atmospheric ecosystems meet.

The afternoon keynote will feature LaDonna Sanders Redmond, the founder and lead organizer of the Campaign for Food Justice NOW!. The Campaign for Food Justice NOW! is an emerging national membership organization whose mission is to advocate for the human right to food, to create a national food and agriculture platform, and to organize civil society to engage politically in public policy supporting our food system.

Online registration for the Michigan Family Farms Conference will be open until midnight on Sunday, January 11. Day-of registration will be available at the door.
