2015 Thumb Ag Research and Education Field Trials Report is now available

The 2015 Thumb Ag Research and Education Field Trials Report provides growers with the latest yield information on corn hybrids, soybean varieties, agronomic practices and additional studies.

During the 2015 growing season, field trials were established by Michigan State University Extension educators and harvested to provide field crop producers with the latest yield information concerning corn hybrids, soybean varieties and agronomic practices. The Thumb Ag Research and Education (TARE) trials have now been tabulated and are available online for anyone that would like to download a copy. The Thumb Ag Research and Education is a multi-county program that provides a platform for evaluating corn hybrids, soybean varieties, alfalfa, wheat, specialty crops and agronomic practices. The unbiased results are made possible through funding support from commodity groups such as the Corn Marketing Program of Michigan, Michigan Soybean Promotion Committee, Michigan Wheat Program and industry partners.

Corn hybrid and soybean variety trials as well as additional studies were included in the report. These included:

  • Liberty link soybean variety trial
  • Non-GMO conventional soybean variety trial
  • Soybean population study in 30-inch rows
  • Soybean white mold study with Endura fungicide
  • Using yard waste compost in a corn/soybean rotation
  • Michigan alfalfa sulfur survey
  • What is the best fungicide application timing to minimize head blight in wheat?
  • Fungicide efficacy trial on winter wheat
  • Response of wheat varieties to intensive management inputs
