Modeling Forest Management and Carbon: A Tool for State-Wide Planning and Action
- Kendall DeLyser, Director, Climate Science, American Forests
- Kendall manages American Forests’ forest climate science projects and serves as the organization’s technical expert on forests, carbon, and climate change. She is currently leading research partnerships on forest soil carbon, management impacts on forest ecosystem carbon, and the role of forests as natural climate solutions. Before joining American Forests, she worked on carbon offset project research and policy recommendations for climate-smart land use. Kendall holds a BA in Environmental Policy from Colorado College, and Master of Environmental Management and Master of Forestry degrees from Duke University.
- Chad Papa, PHD Candidate, Forest Carbon and Climate Program
- Chad is a PhD candidate in the department of forestry and a research assistant with the MSU Forest Carbon and Climate program. His current research program investigates forest-atmospheric interactions specifically focusing on the carbon cycle in relationship to forest structure and function and land surface phenology utilizing a variety of traditional forest measurements, remote sensing, geospatial statistics, and process-based ecosystem models. Currently, he leads a modeling initiative to understand the effects of forest management practices on carbon dynamics in 5 US states at the regional level. Additionally, Chad holds a BS in Environmental Science from the University of Florida and a MS in Forestry from Michigan State University.
