Ag Action Day 2015 to include hops production sessions
Michigan State University Extension will host Ag Action Day 2015, an agriculture and home horticulture networking and educational event, Jan. 30, in Oshtemo Township, Michigan.

On Jan. 30, 2015, Michigan State University Extension and Kalamazoo Valley Community College will host their popular Ag Action Day. Included will be a trade show and agriculture and home horticulture education sessions. A day-long hops track will include sessions on “Getting started with hops production” by Rob Sirrine and “Hops pest management” by Erin Lizotte, both MSU Extension educators, and “Quality hops for quality brew” by Jason Salas of New Holland Brewing, a craft brew industry leader in the state.
Other subjects to be covered in educational sessions will be: fruit production with a focus on pest management, vegetable production, and field crops.
Restricted Use Pesticide (RUP) credits will be offered for the educational sessions, and RUP exam sessions will be available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a $5 fee for entrance to Ag Action Day for the exam only, in addition to exam costs from MDARD.
Ag Action Day will be held Friday, Jan. 30 at Kalamazoo Valley Community College, 6767 West O Avenue, Kalamazoo, MI 49003. The registration fee of $25 includes lunch.
