For the second year in a row, the MSU Avian Science Club has won the “Reach Teach Learn” contest held by the animal health organization Zoetis. “Reach Teach Learn” is an initiative focused on spreading a positive message about the poultry industry to encourage conversations about what it takes to produce today's poultry products.

For the 2014 contest, the club created a video to describe their idea to educate the general public at MSU and in the surrounding community. As the video shows, they hope to address questions regarding the meaning behind food labeling, especially organic and free range labels.

The goal is to help consumers make informed decisions regarding poultry products, and the $7,500 grant awarded to the winners of the contest will allow the club to bring their proposal to fruition. Zoetis, headquartered in North Carolina, will be working with the club to modify and refine their proposal as it develops. For those that have not seen the proposal, click here to see what our students are planning to achieve in the coming year!
