Biosystems students present capstone projects

Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering (BAE) students presented their capstone projects earlier this month to the 16-member BAE Industry Advisory Board.

Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering (BAE) students presented their capstone projects earlier this month to the 16-member BAE Industry Advisory Board. Ten  Capstone Senior Design teams publically presented their final project designs during BAE Showcase 2013. Each Senior Design team gave a 10-minute presentation with question time which was reduced from a previous 30-minute technical faculty jury presentation. Industry representatives evaluate and critique  team project components – final written report, public questions and posters. The 2013 showcase culminateed with an Awards Banquet attended by 160 students, faculty, industry representatives, family and friends.  Twenty-two 2013-14 undergraduate and graduate scholarship winners were announced and acknowledged. Senior design students were acknowledged individually and presented with a departmental gift. 

The advisory board met during prior to the showcase to advise and discuss industry trends, employee needs, departmental curriculum and ABET changes and BE Senior Design project evaluations. The 2013 Board membership represents professionals from Nestle Nutrition, ConAgra, Perrigo, C-Jet Energy, JBT FoodTech, General Mills, Tetra Tech, Kellogg, Heat Transfer International, Stephens Consulting, Kraft Foods, MDA, MDEQ, USDA-NRCS, PepsiCo and USDA-Rural Development.
