Brinkman receives 2021 CANR Outstanding Young Alumni Award

Kaytlyn Brinkman will receive the 2021 CANR Outstanding Young Alumni Award during ANR Month.

Kaytlyn Brinkman, of Portage, Mich., will receive the MSU College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) Outstanding Young Alumni Award at the March 12 ANR Awards Program.

The CANR Outstanding Young Alumni Award honors individuals who have distinguished themselves by obtaining a high level of professional accomplishment. These individuals also possess high standards of integrity and character to positively reflect and enhance the prestige of the CANR within 10 years of graduation.

Brinkman is the northern regional manager for the American Tree Farm System at the American Forest Foundation. In this role, she works with 20 states on Tree Farm certification and with local landowners to foster relationships. She previously worked for Martell Forestry as a consulting forester. She is a 2015 MSU graduate with a bachelor’s degree in forestry with a specialization in natural resources recreation.

Outside of her job, she volunteered as the vice chair of the Michigan Tree Farm Committee and served on the Michigan Forest Association Board. In these roles, she created policies to help increase the efficiency of the Michigan Tree Farm Committee. She has also served on conservation district advisory boards.

Brinkman was awarded the 2018 Michigan Society of American Foresters Young Forester of the Year and was honored as a nominee for the National Leadership Award. She is a certified Tree Farm Inspector, as well as a Certified Forester through the Society of American Foresters.
