Business resource centers: Diamonds in the rough

Business Resource Center Network is a great asset for the Northern Lakes Economic Alliance region. With 10 locations housed in 9 communities, as well as online, resources for entrepreneurs are only a short drive or keystrokes away!

Located strategically around the Northern Lakes Economic Alliance Region, consisting of Antrim, Charlevoix, Emmet and Cheboygan counties, there are ten Business Resource Centers located in nine communities. Primarily housed in local libraries, in partnership with Chambers of Commerce and Michigan State University Extension, these centers provide a myriad of useful information for anyone looking to start a business, grow existing ones, or simply bolster your entrepreneurial skill sets.

Though the physical layout differs by location, the basic purpose of providing a variety of business resources is the same. Establishing and maintaining these centers has been an ongoing example of a true collaborative effort.

To ensure the reach of these resources is as convenient and broad as possible, many of these resources are readily available online and can be easily found online at websites hosted by local chambers of commerce and libraries.

Though over time the delivery and use of Business Resource Centers may have changed, the need has not. Through collaborative partnerships with organizations such as SCORE, someone desiring confidential one-on-one business counseling is also available.

If you have any questions or want to learn more about the resources available in the NLEA region, go to their webpage and see what NLEA and our partners have available for you.
