The Michigan State University (MSU) College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Alumni Association (CANRAA) will host the 23rd annual Golfing for Scholarships outing Tuesday, June 3, at Forest Akers West Golf Course in East Lansing.

Each year, the CANRAA raises more than $20,000 to fund scholarships, student programming and alumni activities for the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR). Since 1989, the CANRAA has awarded more than $732,000 in scholarship money and student club grants, touching the lives of more than 1,700 CANR students.

The success of this event depends on the generosity and philanthropy of our participants and sponsors. Those who wish to participate in this year’s golf outing can choose from two options.

  • Golf package: $135 per golfer, which includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, a bucket of balls for the driving range, a team picture with Sparty, lunch at the turn, dinner and a discounted round of golf at Forest Acres prior to Dec. 31, 2014 (There is a $23 tax-deductible gift to the CANR scholarship fund.)
  • Dinner Only: $40 per person (There is an $18 tax-deductible gift to the CANR scholarship fund.)

Participants may also play for one of three Golfing for Scholarship trophies. Everyone is welcome to compete for the CANR Cup. Winners will have their names engraved on the CANR Cup trophy. Those who wish to compete for the Dean’s Cup must be in groups of four with one or more MSU faculty members, staff members or students competing. Teams who would like to compete for the George Stachwick Extension Cup must also be in groups of four with at least one MSU Extension staff member or MSU Extension retiree competing.

The CANRAA Golf Outing depends extensively on its sponsors to help fund scholarships. Interested in being a sponsor? It’s an excellent way to promote your business. All sponsors will be listed in the tournament program and on the CANR website. Sponsorship opportunities range from $30 to $2,000 and include everything from dinner sponsors to cart sponsors.
