The CANR Dean’s Search Committee met on 04 May 2015 with Provost Youatt and Associate Provost and Associate Vice President Curry to receive the charge and for the Provost to share her thoughts on the characteristics that are needed for a new dean of the college. A complete list of the search committee is attached.
The search committee will be developing a position description in the coming weeks and when finalized will develop a distribution plan for approval from the Office of the Provost and the Office for Inclusion and Intercultural Initiatives.
MSU has secured the help of the search consultant Korn Ferry to assist with the search. Korn Ferry recently completed agriculture-related dean searches at Pennsylvania State University and Ohio State University and has assisted with searches at MSU for the Dean of Arts and Letters and the MSU Foundation Executive Director. At this meeting, representatives from Korn Ferry discussed their role in the search process with the search committee and has established the secure email address: msu-canrdean@kornferry.com for accepting confidential nominations. Plans are being made for representatives from Korn Ferry to visit MSU in the coming weeks to meet with personnel from across the college and MSU as well as with stakeholders to discuss the search and leadership needs for the position. Additional details for this visit will be provided at a later date.
The goal is to have candidates on campus for interviews early in the fall semester so that a new dean can be identified and hopefully in place for a January 1, 2016 start.
