Clean Sweep program to highlight 2012 Fall Ag Day

The annual Clean Sweep program and Fall Ag Day will be held on September 6. Farmers and homeowners are encouraged to bring their unwanted pesticides and mercury for safe disposal by authorities.

The annual Clean Sweep Program will highlight the 2012 Eaton/Ionia/Barry County Fall Ag Day on September 6. The Clean Sweep is a popular program for farmers and homeowners to drop off their unwanted pesticides and mercury for safe disposal by authorities. This event will be held at the Crop Production Services (CPS) Sunfield Distribution Center, 9845 West Grand ledge Hwy, Sunfield, Mich. (view map), from 8 a.m. to noon. There will be no cost.

Lunch and the afternoon program will be held at the CPS Woodbury facility at 211 Milbourne Street, Lake Odessa, Mich. (view map). The educational sessions will focus on MAEAP, emergency spill response and planning, and crop production update. Participants interested in receiving a free lunch should RSVP by calling Ionia Conservation District at 616-527-2620 by September 3. Pesticide credits will be available.

This event is jointly sponsored by MAEAP, Eaton Conservation District, Ionia Conservation District and MSU Extension.
