Commercial greenhouse lighting seminar offered

A free Lighting Applications in Floriculture seminar is offered twice in Michigan during September.

A free educational opportunity is being offered for commercial greenhouse floriculture growers in September 2013. Lighting Applications in Floriculture is a workshop offered by Michigan State University Extension specialist Erik Runkle and will be offered twice; once on the east side of the state (Sept. 19 in Novi, Mich.) and once on the west side of the state (Sept. 25 in West Olive, Mich.).

This free, two-hour workshop will present the latest research-based information generated at MSU on how to use lighting in the production of floriculture crops. Runkle will discuss different ways to create long days to accelerate flowering of spring crops. He will also discuss principles and practices to increase the daily light integral to improve root and shoot growth. Different lighting technologies will be presented, with an emphasis on the challenges, opportunities and experiences of using light-emitting diodes in crop production. Following the talk, there will be time for questions and answers.

These educational opportunities are free, but please register to the contact below so we know how many handouts to make. Please indicate in your message how many people from your organization are attending.
