With wheat harvest looming, it is time to consider planting cover crops. Brook Wilke, associate director of the KBS Long-Term Agroecosystem Research Program, will be discussing cover crop options following wheat at the Michigan State University Extension Field Crops Virtual Breakfast on June 30, 2022. Potential cover crop mixtures include oats and radish but planting legume cover crops could also help with nitrogen credits for subsequent year corn crops.

Following the 20-minute presentation, MSU Extension climatologist Jeff Andresen will present a 15-minute weather summary and forecast. One RUP credit and one CCA credit will be awarded following the presentations. If more discussion is needed, a question-and-answer period will follow until 8 a.m. Other MSU Extension specialists and educators will be available for discussion.
