EPA specific exemption for Agri-Mek 0.15 EC in onions

Follow the label for the Section 18 exemption to use this product on dry bulb onion through September 30, 2011.

The Environmental Protection Agency has granted specific exemption for the use of Agri-Mek 0.15 EC (abamectin) for onion thrips control on dry bulb onions in Michigan in 2011. Abamectin (Group 6 insecticide) is a mixture of two compounds that have similar biological and toxicological properties. These compounds are the natural fermentation product of the soil bacterium Streptomyces avermitilis.

In onions, Agri-Mek can be applied at a rate of 8-16 fluid ounces/acre by ground or air equipment. For insecticide resistance management purposes apply this product twice consecutively and then use another class of insecticide if onion thrips management is needed. Pre-harvest interval (PHI) is 30 days.

This product is highly toxic to bees, therefore, do not apply or allow it to drift to blooming crops or weeds if bees are visiting the treatment area. Please note that the expiration date of the Section 18 exemption is September 30, 2011.

All applicable directions, restrictions and precautions specified in the federal label and the Section 18 exemption must be followed.
