Essay contest for 4-H members

4-H Mark of Excellence Award recipients must write an essay explaining their experiences through 4-H.

4-H youth ages 11-12 have the chance to write an essay titled “Because of 4-H I can…” as part of the 4-H Mark of Excellence essay recognition program. Essays should be 500 words or less and can be submitted to your local Michigan State University Extension county office by Feb. 1, 2016. Each county has the opportunity to select two essays to submit to the State 4-H Awards Committee for recognition. Members and their parents are asked to submit a signed media release form that is available online on the 4-H Awards and Recognition Program page with their essay.

4-H members enjoy a variety of project experiences and this essay contest is a great way for members to share some of their experiences. As members reflect on their experiences, they highlight their leaders, friendships and opportunities to try new skills. 4-H is more than they ever imagined. Join the club and be a 4-H member today; start by contacting your local MSU Extension office
