FCCP Research Assistant and PhD Candidate, Chad Papa, and FCCP Communications Manager, Adrianna Sutton, recently published an article in the Society of American Foresters newspaper The Forestry Source. In “Training the Next Generation of Forest Carbon Professionals,” Papa and Sutton discuss how FCCP resources and trainings play a role in bridging knowledge gaps among diverse stakeholders in the U.S. and abroad.

The authors underscore the importance of forests in the global effort to curb the effects of climate change and the need for an educated and well-trained workforce stating, “Forests as natural climate solutions are integral parts of plans to reach national and international climate change mitigation goals. To meet these goals, a new generation of natural resource professionals trained in forest carbon science, management, and policy is required to foster the development of this burgeoning field.”
