Free regional graphics and white papers now available on the FCCP website

New maps, figures, and three white papers—based on content developed for FCCP Intensive: US Regions professional development courses—are now available for download and free use with citation from the FCCP Open Resource Library.

New Regional White Papers: Northeast US, Pacific Northwest US, and Southeast US

The newest course offerings from the Forest Carbon and Climate Program, FCCP Intensive: US Regions, provide geographic and species-specific content for the Pacific Northwest, Northeast, and Southeast regions of the United States. These courses and related materials were developed with funding from USDA NIFA and in partnership with the Northern Institute of Applied Climate Science (NIACS). This work resulted in a series of original maps and figures, many of which were created using spatial analyses and data from the US Forest Service Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) program. These visuals, which illustrate status and trends of regional forests and forest carbon dynamics, are available for free use with citation and can be downloaded from our Open Resource Library.

The maps created for these courses, include overviews of percent tree canopy cover, forest density, and carbon density by forest type providing learners with efficient comprehension of these forest characteristics. These visuals enhance understanding of key forest carbon issues and practical management considerations at the regional level.

White paper snapshots of regional forest, carbon, and climate considerations covered in the regional courses are also available for free download from the FCCP Reports & White Papers page. To learn more about this project, see the project webpage here. To learn more about the regional courses, visit the FCCP Intensive: US Regions page. FCCP gratefully acknowledges USDA NIFA for providing financial support to carry out this work and our partnership with NIACS in developing these materials.
