The MSU School of Planning, Design and Construction (SPDC) announces the next Industry Seminar Series event, slated for Friday, Apr. 24, 2015, at the Human Ecology Building on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing.

The featured speaker will be Pat Gillespie, chief visionary, founder and president of the Gillespie Group. Gillespie will present on a Mixed-Use Case Study: East End Midland. Under Gillespie’s leadership, this company has been at the forefront of development and property management, and is recognized as a driving force for progress in Lansing and throughout the state. From their creative apartment communities in numerous Michigan cities to their highly visible commercial spaces, the Gillespie Group team applies their passion for customer service to everything they do. They have been honored with various awards, including the 2014 Athena Organizational Leadership Award, the 2012 Governor’s Award for Historic Preservation (Armory), the 2012 Michigan Preservation Network’s Historic Preservation Award (Armory) and, most recently, announced Michigan 50 Companies to Watch.

The SPDC Industry Seminar Series consists of lectures and presentations by invited speakers who are industry leaders in the Built Environment profession. In Nov. 2013, the SPDC hosted its inaugural speaker Ron Boji, president of The Boji Group; followed by Jay Smith, executive vice president of Construction Operations and Corporate Safety officer at The Christman Company in Mar. 2014; and continued with Bob and Karen Schroeder, president and vice president, respectively, of Mayberry Homes in Nov. 2014. Joseph Maguire, president and CEO of Wolverine Development Corporation, and president and co-founder of the Society of Environmentally Responsible Facilities (SERF), serves as the facilitator of the Series.

This event is free and open to the public. The lecture will take place from 4-4:45 p.m. in Room 300 in the MSU Human Ecology Building in East Lansing. A reception sponsored by the Gillespie Group will follow the lecture from 4:45-5:30 p.m.
