Gratitude and best wishes to Dr. Kimberly Carr

We commend Kimberly’s achievements and thank her for challenging us and learning with our team.

With heartfelt gratitude we extend our best wishes to Dr. Kimberly Carr as she embarks on a new position at the Georgia Rural Health Innovation Center at Mercer University. We thank Kimberly for her invaluable contributions as a postdoctoral research fellow at the MSU Center for Regional Food Systems and MSU Center for Interdisciplinarity.

A true interdisciplinary scholar, Kimberly advanced scholarship and outreach at the intersection of food access, food sovereignty, and racial equity while at Michigan State University. Her contributions included national webinars, testimony before the Michigan House Agriculture Committee, serving as a policy panel moderator for the Michigan Legislative Black Caucus, a policy memo for the Journal of Science Policy and Governance (publication forthcoming), and collected citations for the 8th edition of CRFS’s Annotated Bibliography on Structural Racism Present in the U.S. Food Systems. Kimberly was a member of the Racial Equity in the Food System Workgroup steering committee and will remain engaged in this work through her new role at Mercer University.

While we commend Kimberly for her achievements, we also thank her for her efforts to make MSU Center for Regional Food Systems a more welcoming and inclusive workplace. We are grateful for the ways that you challenged and learned with our team, Kim, and look forward to continuing to learn from and with you in this next stage of your career.
