Gretchen Neisler to Lead International Agriculture Section of APLU
As chair, Gretchen Neisler will serve the liaison to the APLU Board on Agriculture Assembly, the governing body for the Agriculture and Natural Resource Deans across the country, as well as the APLU Council on International Initiatives.
Dr. Gretchen Neisler, Director of the Center for Global Connections in Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resources, was recently elected Chair of the International Agriculture Section (IAS) of the Association of Public and Land Grant Universities (APLU). As Chair, Neisler will serve the liaison to the APLU Board on Agriculture Assembly, the governing body for the Agriculture and Natural Resource Deans across the country as well as the APLU Council on International Initiatives.
Representing 144 universities with active international agriculture programs, Dr. Neisler's priorities for her team as chair include:
- Working with the USDA to internationalize their programming
- Engaging with federal agencies to promote and enhance the whole of government approach to international research and development
- Assisting member universities in growing and enhancing their international agriculture programs
- Conveying the international agriculture priorities of the member instiutions to Congree
APLU is a research, policy, and advocacy organizsation representing 237 public universities, land-grant institutions, state university systems, and affiliated organizations. APLU is lead by Mr. Peter McPherson, the former President of Michigan State University from 1993-2004.
