Christmas tree experts and educators from across the country and as far as Denmark will be featured speakers at the Great Lakes Fir Conference II to be held September 21-22 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The conference is co-sponsored by the Michigan State University Extension Christmas Tree Team and the Michigan Christmas Tree Association.

The event is an in-depth look at successfully growing true fir trees in the Great Lakes region and features researchers and extension specialists from Michigan, North Carolina, New York, Oregon, Washington and Denmark. Topics will include: species selection, fertilization, shearing, insect, disease and weed management, irrigation, harvest strategies, bough production and more. We have learned so much more about growing great fir trees since the last Great Lakes Fir Conference was held 11 years ago and this conference gives us the opportunity to bring the experts and growers together to share knowledge on true firs from around the region.
