Hop Growers of America Update
Opportunities for growers to engage with HGA in the coming year.
October 25, 2018 - Author: Rob Sirrine
For those of you who do not receive the Hop Growers of America (HGA) e-newsletter, you may have missed a few important announcements. First, HGA generally relies on knowledgeable volunteers to help promote U.S. hops at conventions around the world. Hop growers who are interested in working alongside HGA staff at the USA Hops booth during the Craft Beer Convention, Apr. 8-11, 2019 in Denver, CO should email Jessica Lucas (firstname.lastname@example.org) with the following information:
- Name and Position
- Farm/Company Name and Address
- Contact information (phone, email)
- Past HGA trade show experience, if any
- Short statement on hop growing and brewing experience and/or knowledge
- Short statement on any direct marketing experience you may have through your farm
The final volunteer selections will be made by the HGA Board of Directors and only selected volunteers will be reimbursed for their travel.
Second, for those interested in being included in the USA HOPS 2019 Merchant Guide, please email Jessica Lucas (email@example.com) for a form to complete and return. Merchant Guides are distributed at conferences to promote sales of U.S. hops. The cost is $150 to be included in the online Merchant list, and $350 for both the online and print version. The print version is distributed at domestic and international conferences like the BrauBeviale.
Third, HGA is seeking nominations for the at-large Board position. If you are a current grower member of HGA and interested in the position, please submit a nomination, including a statement of qualifications to firstname.lastname@example.org by Nov. 19. The at-large board member will be expected to participate in five annual meetings (January, March, May, July, and October). HGA reimburses board members for travel to these meetings. Please contact Ann George for more information at email@example.com.
