Japanese-owned company continues to expand in northern Michigan

Petoskey-based circuit controls corporation to invest $31 million and hire 36 new employees.

Circuit Controls Corporation (CCC), in Bear Creek Township (Emmet County), is planning another 15,000 square foot expansion to their building in Emmet County, Mich. They will be adding more presses and a plating line. Their plan is to invest $21 million and hire 36 new employees over the next two years. The Northern Lakes Economic Alliance, a partner of Michigan State University Extension, is assisting the company with the negotiations and coordination with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), Bear Creek Township and Emmet County related to this project. Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) recently approved an $180,000 incentive to assist them with this expansion. A tax abatement application will soon be presented to the Township related to this new investment.

CCC is Japanese-owned (parent company Yazaki) and has had operations in Emmet County for over 60 years. CCC employs 165 people and produces electrical connectors for wiring harnesses for the automotive industry. They have a unique line that “gold plates” the connections for increased conductivity and reliability.

The Northern Lakes Economic Alliance has worked with Circuit Controls on various projects over the years and is excited about the continued growth of their operations in northern Michigan. This growth demonstrates their dedication to Michigan and improving the state’s economy.
