Karen Keeder receives 2016 Paul Schmidt Service Award Winner

Karen is a 2003 graduate of the School of Packaging and a devoted and passionate alumna. Joining the Packaging Alumni Association board in 2010, Karen has supported most of the committees. She has been fundamental in standardizing committee procedures as well as implementing the VIP tour for the awards banquets. Standardization of committees and outside-the-box thinking have driven the MSUPAA to elevate what the board does and how members give back to the students and the school. Karen goes above and beyond the basic requirements of a member of the PAA board both personally and professionally to ensure that the PAA continues to positively impact students, staff members and alumni. Karen’s underlying passion is to educate students to become future professionals in the packaging industry, whether it be through professional enhancement, job shadowing or a technical lecture.

Karen continues to be the liaison between the School of Packaging and Kellogg, and that connection has provided numerous opportunities for students to learn and develop their knowledge. She has leveraged her Kellogg network to find additional volunteers for the annual Student Career Fair Prep Day in addition to multiple other events.

Karen’s commitment to MSU and the School of Packaging, along with her passion to mentor, teach and create positive change, has had a direct impact on countless individuals within the packaging community.
