LandTexture: New Emerging Leader Board Member

2019 graduate, Chanelle Russ, joins LAAAB as the emerging professional, a two-year, nominated position created to allow younger members to share their recent experiences with students.

We welcome Chanelle Russ to LAAAB! Chanelle is a 2019 graduate of MSU. She replaces Stephanie Onwenu as the emerging professional, a two-year, nominated position created to allow younger members to share their recent experiences with students.

Chanelle has worked as an intern in design-build and horticulture. After graduation, she worked as a landscape designer with PEA Group and as a landscape construction project manager for Hoerr Schaudt. Chanelle recently relocated to Petoskey, Michigan, to take a designer and client representative position with Vidosh North.

While at MSU, Chanelle participated in Study Abroad in France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, and England. In 2019, she was recognized with awards from ASLA (honor), NCLC (4th Place Woody Ornamental Plant ID, Landscape Design and from FFA for Public Speaking. Chenelle will be an inspiration to students and offer recent graduate perspectives to the board.

When asked about her interest in joining the Board Chanelle said “I would like to join the MSU Alumni Board and give my time to help create the best student support system possible. Having access to alumni and professionals as a student was a powerful motivator for me to excel in school, especially from different sectors of the industry, varying tenures, and so on. I would be honored to now be in that very role helping to lift up the newest young professionals. As an emerging leader, I believe my diverse work experiences will provide a healthy perspective to give back to the students and organization that have set me up for success in my career. I would love to grow my leadership abilities and would really appreciate this opportunity to help students and collaborate with talented alumni who have a shared vision.”
