The Michigan Blueberry Cost of Production 2024 report is out now. Published as Bulletin E-3529, the report covers the main aspects of the establishment and production of blueberries, with the various specific costs broken down into tables. The report includes an executive summary describing the major numbers and trends, while the main body of the report offers more details on costs related to different aspects of production.

The study includes a focus on understanding the markets for Michigan blueberries and their relationship with harvesting techniques. For example, tables were developed that break down the costs and potential revenues based on different splits between hand-harvesting and machine-harvesting methods. Different return levels are also illustrated based on variances in prices and yields that growers might experience. The report also takes a deeper look at the higher-input fresh variety approach, and its associated costs and revenues.
