On Feb. 20, 2019, Al Scott, a construction management alumnus, received the Outstanding Industry Advisory Board Member Award at the National Association of Home Builders International Builders’ Show.

Scott, who is a 1973 graduate, is an advisory board member and a donor for the Construction Management program’s Housing Research and Education Initiative.

In his role as an advisory board member, Scott gives guidance to the faculty as a practitioner in the industry, and to the students on their studies and competition team projects, and provides insight into what they can expect when they graduate and begin work in the construction and the real estate development industry.

“I am humbly honored to receive this award. It means a lot to me to receive this award as an appreciation for my work on the advisory board at MSU,” Scott said.

“My favorite thing about the program is the energy of both the faculty and students. It energizes me to try to help even more. Michigan State’s program is second to none. It shows in every student, and every faculty member.”

Matt Syal, PhD, professor in construction management, introduced and presented the award to Scott on stage during the award’s ceremony.

“Al Scott has been a great supporter and advisor to our students, faculty and our program. I greatly value his guidance and friendship,” said Syal.
