MSU students receive awards for 2017-2018 from the Michigan Dairy Memorial and Scholarship Foundation

The Michigan Dairy Memorial and Scholarship Foundation has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to 35 Michigan State University (MSU) students pursuing dairy industry-related programs of study.

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Dairy Memorial and Scholarship Foundation has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to 35 Michigan State University (MSU) students pursuing dairy industry-related programs of study for the 2017-2018 academic year.

The following MSU students received $3,500 scholarships:

  • Alycia Burch, animal science senior, from Jeddo.
  • Libby Venema, animal science senior, Deford.
  • Charlene McAlvey, animal science senior, Sumner.
  • Suzanna Hull, animal science senior, North Adams.
  • Nicole Chase, agribusiness management senior, Conklin.
  • Ellen Launstein, animal science senior, Mason.
  • Jack Luoma, animal science senior, East Leroy.
  • Tyler Cappaert, agribusiness management senior, Stephenson.
  • Savannah Praay, food science senior, Midland.
  • Hailey Sharrard, animal science senior, Peck.
  • Riley Smith, animal science senior, St. Louis.
  • Leta Larsen, agribusiness management sophomore, Scottville.

Five students pursuing two-year certificates in dairy management in the MSU Institute of Agricultural Technology each received $2,000 scholarships:

  • Cameron Cook, sophomore, Pewamo.
  • Julee Tellkamp, sophomore, Grant.
  • Hope McAlvey, sophomore, Sumner.
  • Morgan Luoma, sophomore, East Leroy.
  • Kristen Burkhardt, freshman, Fowlerville.

Six first-year students were awarded Michigan Dairy Memorial and Scholarship Foundation Freshman Scholarships worth $1,500:

  • Darren Kulicamp, agribusiness management freshman, Coopersville.
  • Miriah Dershem, dairy management freshman, St. Johns.
  • Lynn Olthof, dairy management freshman, Spring Lake.
  • Kelsie Letts, animal science freshman, Marshall.
  • Abigail van der Swaagh, animal science freshman, Thompson.
  • Adam Wiles, dairy management freshman, Middleton.

The Michigan Dairy Memorial and Scholarship Foundation oversees the largest scholarship program in the MSU College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and one of the largest at MSU.
