NCRCRD Transition Announcement
The new host of the North Central Regional Center for Rural Development will be Purdue University.
With this announcement I am pleased to share news that effective September 1, 2020 Purdue University will be the new host of the North Central Regional Center for Rural Development (NCRCRD), where Drs. Maria Marshall and Michael Wilcox will co-lead the NCRCRD at Purdue.
The NCRCRD had a successful 11-year association with Michigan State University — first directed by Dr. Scott Loveridge and then led by me for the past five years. On behalf of North Central region, we are grateful for the commitment and resources provided by Michigan State University for hosting the Center, and we thank the NCRCRD board for its ongoing commitment to Center. We offer special thanks to the Michigan State University board representatives Dr. Doug Buhler and Patrick Cudney for their contributions as they cycle off the board. The NCRCRD Board and partners also welcome Drs. Bernie Engel and Jason Henderson of Purdue University to the board leadership.
Though my role as Director now comes to close, over the next few months I will continue to provide assistance/support during the transition. Administrative Assistant Krystal Witt will also provide support through September. Contact information for the incoming leadership is:
It has been a pleasure to serve as Director over the past five years. I now return fully to my faculty role at Michigan State University as Professor and Morris Chair in State and Local Government Finance and Policy, where I will turn my attention to editing a new book by Elgar, on the Handbook on the Economics of Natural Disasters.
I wish you all the very best as we pursue our collective mission to help improve the quality of life in rural communities throughout the region.
