In conjunction with colleges across campus, the Office of the Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies (OVPRGS) is initiating a grant submission assistance program for investigators planning to submit NIH grants in June (e.g. June 5th for R01 first submissions) or July (e.g. July 5th for  R01 resubmissions). The program will specifically offer peer review and grant editing/consulting services. Application to the program is open to all investigators with proposals requesting direct costs of $500K or greater, assistant professors, or to those who have early stage investigator status.  Each individual’s internal deadline will depend on the corresponding agency deadline for the grant program of interest  (e.g., R01, R03, R21) and the services the investigator wishes to receive (peer review and editing/consulting, peer review only, or editing/consulting only).

Investigators interested in participating in both peer-review AND grant editing/consulting for NEW R01s should contact their department chairs by March 24th (see attached guidelines for other grant program deadlines), with the attached application form filled out. The guidelines and application form are also located here.  Because program resources are limited, applicants must be nominated by their chairs and approved by their research deans.

Anyone who does not fit the criteria designated in the guidelines, or is not nominated, but is still interested in editing/consulting may directly set up a 45 minute appointment with Tom Hollon at vprgs.hollonappts@campusad.msu.edu to discuss options for editing and peer-review of their grant proposal.
