The Michigan State University Department of Animal Science is now seeking nominations for the 2026 Dairy Farm of the Year Award.

Since 1958, the Dairy Farm of the Year Award has celebrated a farmer, farm partners or family who exemplify outstanding achievement in dairy farming and demonstrate leadership within the industry and their community. The award is the highest honor bestowed by the MSU Department of Animal Science to Michigan dairy farmers.

Information about the award, a list of past recipients and the nomination form can be accessed online or by searching MSU Dairy Farm of the Year. Nominations are welcome even if not all the requested information is available at the time of submission.

Nominations are due to Miriam Weber Nielsen, msw@msu.edu, chair of the selection committee, by Sept. 15, 2025. Download a nomination form.

The 2026 awardee will be announced ahead of the Great Lakes Regional Dairy Conference and formally recognized during the Michigan Dairy Industry Banquet.

A portrait of the honoree will be added to the Farm Bureau Pavilion display wall on campus. In addition, local newspapers and state legislators will be notified of the award.
