Nutrient deficiency photo library available in iPad application

Farmers seeking help with identifying plant deficiency symptoms can use the new nutrient deficiency photo library app, available with iPhone and iPad devices.

A crop nutrient deficiency photo library compiled by the International Plant Nutrient Institute is now available as a mobile application. It contains classic photos of deficiency symptoms of 14 major crops covering major and micronutrients. It also provides supporting text and illustrations of nutrient deficiencies. This application will serve as a rapid reference guide for crop consultants, fertilizer dealerships, Extension educators, beginner farmers and students. It can be downloaded from the iTunes store for $4.99.

Michigan State University Extension also recommends the use of MSU Diagnostic Services to verify field observations. Other valuable pocketbook diagnostic tools include the Iowa State University Soybean Field Guide and the Purdue University Corn and Soybean Guide.
