Pesticide manual review sessions in 2016 for Mid-Michigan farmers

Pesticide manual review sessions, held Feb. 25 in Ionia County and March 11 in Eaton County, are for those seeking to pass the MDARD pesticide certification exam and become licensed applicators.

Michigan State University Extension will be offering two pesticide manual review sessions in 2016 for mid-Michigan farmers. The first will take place in Ionia County on Feb. 25, 2016, at the Clarkesville Research Station in Clarkesville, Michigan, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., and the second will take place in Eaton County on March 9, 2016, at the Eaton County MSU Extension office in Charlotte, Michigan, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. This review is intended to help prepare participants for the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) pesticide applicator certification exams. Attendance to the review session is optional and not required to take the MDARD exam.

Each training session will begin with a review of 2015 season and potential changes anticipated for 2016. That will be followed with a chapter-by-chapter review of the pesticide core manual. Emphasize will be to prepare participants for the test using multiple choice practice questions.

Those attending the review session only will receive four MDARD recertification credits.

To register for the review session in Ionia County, please call 616-527-5357. To register for the review session in Eaton County, please call 517-543-2310. The cost is $30 and includes lunch and refreshments. Online registration is not available.

This registration does not include study manuals. To order the study manuals “Michigan Private Applicator Addendum” (E3007) or “Michigan Commercial Applicator Addendum” (E3008), visit the MSU Extension Bookstore.

The regular MDARD certification exam will be held after the review session beginning at 1 p.m. If you plan to take the MDARD exam, be prepared to pay by check (no cash or credit cards) payable to State of Michigan. The fee for “private” applicators is $50 and fee for “commercial” applicators is $75.
