Pesticide manual review sessions offered in Ionia and Eaton counties

The pesticide manual review sessions are intended to help participants prepare for the MDARD pesticide certification exam. Review sessions will take place Feb. 27 in Ionia County and March 12 in Eaton County.

Michigan State University Extension will be offering two pesticide manual review sessions. The first will take place in Ionia County on Feb. 27, 2014, at the Clarkesville Research Station in Clarkesville, Mich., from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and the second will take place in Eaton County on March 12, 2014, at the Eaton County MSU Extension office in Charlotte, Mich., from 8 a.m. to noon. This review is intended to help prepare participants for the MDARD pesticide applicator certification exams. Attendance to the review session is not required to take the MDARD exam.

Each training session will start with an update on 2014 nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer recommendations for field crops. These recommendations are formulated within a framework of Michigan’s economic, agronomic and environmental implications. That will be followed by a chapter-by-chapter review of the pesticide core manual. Emphasize will be to prepare participants for the test using multiple choice practice questions.

Participants will receive four MDARD recertification credits for the review session.

To register for the review session, please call 616-527-5357 in Ionia County and 517-543-2310 in Eaton County. The cost is $30 and includes lunch and refreshments. Online registration is not available for these events.

This registration does not include study manuals. To order study manuals E3007 or E3008, please visit the MSU Extension Bookstore.

The regular MDARD certification exams for each county will be held after the review session beginning at 1 p.m. If you plan to take the MDARD exam, be prepared to pay by check (no cash or credit cards) payable to State of Michigan. The fee for “private” applicators is $50 and the fee for “commercial” applicators is $75.
