Crowd at Bee Palooza

MSU Entomology’s 2016 Bee Palooza hosted a crowd of over 500 on a lovely Sunday, June 19. Organization of the event is led by the IPM Program’s Julianna Wilson with many collaborators. Aimed at helping families learn about and enjoy bees, games and demonstrations drew people of all ages. Some of the educational highlights included displays with:

  • A bumble bee exhibit with a live observation colony.
  • A honey bee observation hive with Michigan beekeepers answering questions about what it takes to keep honey bees.
  • Master Gardeners with Smart Gardening practices for supporting pollinators.
  • Instructions for building a native bee hotel.
