Road to Independence workshops aid budding entrepreneurs

The MSU Product Center and Michigan State University Extension are offering “The Road to Independence”, an introduction to starting a business, which addresses planning, marketing, financial considerations and community resources.

Do you have an idea for a great product? Do people tell you that you make something really well and that you should sell it? Maybe you have always dreamed about being your own boss?  Then you should consider attending “Road to Independence”, a short workshop designed by the Michigan State University (MSU) Product Center to provide resources and information for startup entrepreneurs.

The session focuses on developing business owners for success. Topics include getting started, business planning, market considerations and available community resources. MSU Extension Product Center Innovation Counselors are teaching the workshop at three locations with local partners:

  • June 30 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Barry County Courts & Law Building, 206 W. Court Street, Hastings
  • July 11 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Van Buren Conference Center, 490 South Paw Paw Street, Lawrence in collaboration with the Greater Paw Paw Area Chamber of Commerce
  • July 14 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Southwestern Michigan College Niles Campus, 33890 US 12, Niles
  • July 27 from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Barry County Courts & Law Building, 206 W. Court Street, Hastings
