Save the date—SPARC program coming to Flint in April!

Want to be the next big thing? Join us at SPARC in Flint April 18, 2015.

Save The Date! Students Producing Awesome Robust Communities (SPARC) is coming to Flint in April!

Michigan State University Extension is hosting the first SPARC event on April 18, 2015 at the Genesee County MSU Extension Office in Flint, Michigan.

This program is designed for young adults, aged 16-24. Cost is only $10 per person, and includes lunch and snacks. Registration online is required by April 11, 2015.

During this program, attendees will engage with Michigan State University tourism and entrepreneurship professionals and learn about Tourism in Michigan Communities and how cutting edge ideas have transformed the adventurous industry. From this interactive program participants will have opportunity then to develop their concept to be the “Next Big Thing” for tourism as however they can imagine it. SPARC-ers will design their product or service (business ideas) and pitch it at the end of the day for a chance to win!

Create outside-the-box, design what you want, launch it how you want to and sell.

The intent of this program is for attendees to collaboratively develop some great concepts and ideas related to the tourism industry in Michigan and/or beyond. These ideas will then be “pitched” to a panel of judges at the end of the day to determine the winning idea. This is very similar to popular TV show, “Shark Tank”, but with a bit less bite. We want attendees to gain a better understanding of the tourism industry in Michigan, some basic business development skills, and to learn the process to develop a concept into an end product.

Be sure to register online by April 11, 2015. For more information about this and other Michigan State University Extension programs visit the events webpage.
