Save these dates –upcoming programs for landscape professionals

Here are two great opportunities for landscape management technicians and certified pesticide applicators to network with colleagues, improve diagnostic skills and earn recertification credits. Registrations are open for both programs. They fill up quickly, so register early so you don’t miss these opportunities.

Applewood Estate Landscape Diagnostic Tour

July 21, 6:00 - 8:00 PM

A unique opportunity to explore the grounds of the C.S. Mott Estate in Flint. This extremely diverse landscape offers many opportunities for observing landscape problems and the integration of cultural practices, biological strategies, and pesticide selection to maintain the property. John Stone, MSU Pesticide Safety Education Program, and Aaron Hathaway, MSU Turfgrass, are the tour leaders. The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has approved two commercial pesticide applicator recertification credits for this tour. Applicators may apply them to one of these categories: Commercial Core, 3A, 3B, or 6. Association of Grand Rapids Professionals Summer Field Day

July 27, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM

This popular annual event takes place on the campus of Calvin College in Grand Rapids. Three morning in-the-field seminars, an afternoon diagnostic tour of the Calvin College turfgrass or landscape, fantastic barbeque lunch, trade show and door prizes make for an exciting day of learning and networking. Ron Calhoun and Kevin Frank, MSU turfgrass; Dave Smitley, MSU Entomology; and Rebecca Finneran, MSU Extension are the presenters for this year’s Field Day. Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has approved five recertification credits for commercial pesticide applicators who participate. Applicators may apply them to one of these categories: Commercial Core, 3A, 3B, or 6.
