MSU Biosystems Engineering Students Win Awards at International Food Safety Meeting

Two MSU Biosystems Engineering students were recipients of multiple awards at the recent Annual Meeting of the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP) in Louisville, KY (July 21-24, 2019). Kaitlyn Casulli (Ph.D. candidate with Dr. Kirk Dolan) was the single recipient of the Peanut Proud Student Scholarship Award, which included an academic scholarship and travel funding for a student working in the area of peanut-related food safety. Carly Gomez (linked B.S./M.S. student with Dr. Bradley Marks) was awarded an IAFP Travel Scholarship and won 2nd Place in the annual Undergraduate Research Poster Competition! MSU students have won 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place in either the undergraduate or graduate research competition 10 of the last 11 years! IAFP is the leading professional society in the area of food safety and protection, with over 4,000 members worldwide from academia, industry, and government.
