Join the Michigan State University Extension 2026 Field Crops Virtual Breakfast Series on Thursday, July 9 featuring guest speaker Younsuk Dong, PhD, assistant professor and irrigation specialist in the Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering at Michigan State University. Dong will dive into two aspects of irrigation management: irrigation scheduling and system uniformity.

Irrigation scheduling is a decision-making process using crop development and current weather information to help run your irrigation system more efficiently. Dong will cover several MSU irrigation scheduling tools that are offered free of charge to irrigators. Irrigation scheduling only works well when producers know how much they are applying and the application is uniform across the field. Dong will also present on current efforts of the MSU irrigation team, including uniform irrigation application and recommendations for upgrades or replacement of sprinkler packages.

Immediately following the discussion on irrigation management, MSU Extension Agricultural Climatologist Jeff Andresen will give a weekly weather report followed by a Q&A session with MSU Extension specialists and educators.

The Michigan State University (MSU) Extension Field Crops Virtual Breakfast Series sessions are held every week during the growing season via Zoom video or phone conference.
